Hunguest Hotel Forras, is situated in "New Szeged" on the riverside of the Tisza. The third largest city in Hungary, Szeged is known for its cultural, scientific and artistic diversity, and extensive days of sunshine. After a devastating flood in 1879, the entire city was rebuilt by the finest architects of the Austro Hungarian Empire and was planned with a ring layout incorporating the remaining streets, squares, churches and houses. In the late 1990s Szeged instituted another massive reconstruction effort to reclaim the city's architectural history nearly lost to massive urban expansion during the 1960s.
The Hotel Forras is within walking distance of the renovated shops, cafés and beautiful buildings of Karasz Street, which gives Szeged a Mediterranean feel. On the Klauzál Square, which virtually splits the pedestrian only street in half, visitors can enjoy the delicious pastries of the famous Virág confectionary shop. Other local attractions include the Votive church, the Synagogue, the Hero's Arch, the Ferenc Móra Museum. The town also hosts a well known open air festival.
