The Valley Village is a small, traditional Cretan style family run hotel set in seven buildings located in a small valley on the road into Matala. The 44 guestrooms are furnished in a local style with light colors and dark wooden furnishings. All include balconies, telephones and music channel. Refrigerators are also available for a fee.
The sun terrace has a swimming pool and separate children's pool, as well as sun beds, umbrellas and a bar. There's a children's playground and playroom and a volleyball area is available in the garden. At least once a week, the hotel offers entertainment; a Greek night with a barbecue in the garden, live music, syrtaki dancing and house wine, or a DJ and open party around the swimming pool. The kitchen is open to guests for tastings of local produce and tips on Greek cooking. Seasonal visits to the hotel's orange plantation, olive groves and vineyards are also available and guests are welcome to participate in harvesting and the wine making process. Local attractions include the Minoan Palace of Phaestos, 8 kilometers, and Gortys Excavations and Agia Deka, 18 kilometers from the Heraklion Airport is approximately 60 minutes driving time and distance of 64 kilometers.
